Between 2001 and 2011, the (then) CWSA/ACEF awarded an annual book prize to a monograph published the prior year in the field. Starting in 2012, this award shifted to an Outstanding Scholarship Award, to better recognize the variety of work produced by Women's and Gender Studies practitioners. This prize now recognizes monographs, edited collections, or significant documentary films in English or French published/released in the previous year.

Additionally, there are annual competitions for both an undergraduate and a graduate essay prize. WGSRF members can recognize their students by nominating excellent essays for national recognition, a cash prize, an association membership, and some travel costs towards attending the annual conference. Winners are also invited to read their papers at the annual conference.

The WGSRF awards an annual Outstanding Scholarship Prize, and both an Undergraduate and Graduate Student Essay Prize.

The current call for papers, as well as additional information for the prizes, can be found under the links below.

Deadline for the 2018-2019 Outstanding Scholarship Price: December 9, 2019.

Winners will be announced at the WGSRF Conference as part of CONGRESS 2020 at Western University in May/June 2019.
